Admittance and Supervision Requirements for Leisure Opportunities
To assist us in ensuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable swimming experience, the LRC has implemented a wristband procedure. This system allows us to identify patrons who have paid for facility activities and identify children that require supervision while in the facility. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied IN and OUT of the water by an adult or responsible youth (14 years or older) at all times. Supervisors will be given a matching wristband. To determine the wristband and supervisor requirements please refer to the following:
Age
Supervision Requirements
0-7 years
Always Accompanied (1 supervisor to 4 children)
8 years+
Does not need to be accompanied
Pool Fouling
Unfortunately, on occasion, pools have to be closed in an untimely manner due to pool fouling. Health regulations require that our pools be closed anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours for the necessary disinfecting. Please exercise precaution and feed your children after their swim or a few hours before. Have them use the washroom before entering the water and during lessons or leisure swimming.
Personal Belongings
Patrons using the facility should not leave any valuables in the aquatic centre change rooms. Please take precautions to secure all items in a locking locker. The City of Leduc/LRC is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Please remember to take your lock off after your visit as any locks left on overnight will be removed.
Baby Boat Rentals
Baby boats are now available for rent at the West Guest Services Desk for $2.00 plus a deposit. Please ask a Guest Services Representative for more information before you swim.
Tuck Shop
Did you know that the West Guest Services Desk has a tuck shop that carries all your swimming needs such as goggles, nose clips, swim caps, bathing suits, swim diapers, towels and baby boats? The shop also carries water bottles, LRC bags, Red Cross first aid kits and socks for the Kukabunga Jungle (just in case you forgot yours). Stop by and check out the great stock for you and your family.
Deep End Requirements
All patrons under 16 will be required to swim two lengths of an acceptable swim for the lifeguards. Once the lengths have been completed, to the facility standard, the patron will receive their deep end mark and be able to enter the deep end. Children under 8 must be accompanied in the deep end by their supervisor (14 years or older). Children can swim for their mark in a PFD and the PFD must be worn at all times in the deep end. Due to safety reasons patrons in PFD’s are not able to use the climbing wall. Due to safety reasons patrons in water wings will not be permitted in the deep end of the Main Pool.
Diaper Requirements
Disposable and cloth diapers are NOT allowed in the pools as these diapers soak up the water and can weigh the child down. Disposable diapers will also explode in the water which will cause a closure of the pool. Swim diapers are required for all children/patrons who are not toilet trained and are available at Guest Services for a nominal charge.
Pool Attire
Appropriate swimming apparel is required while in the pool. Street clothes and cut off jeans can carry bacteria or dirt into the water.
Pool Deck Requirements for Shoes and Strollers
For health and safety reasons outdoor footwear and strollers are not permitted on deck or in the change rooms. Shoe racks are provided at the change room entrance and the viewing area entrance on deck. Strollers can be left in the “Stroller Parking Lot” and exchanged for “pool” strollers to be used on the deck or in the change rooms.
Food on Deck
For health and safety reasons the pool deck is a Food Free Zone. Please feel free to have your snack out in the lobby. Drinks in non-breakable containers are acceptable on deck. Only water is acceptable for consuiming while swimming in any of the pools or steam room.
